WorldDeSombre: Chinese Transnational Crime Groups Drive the Global Scam Economy

Michael DeSombre, the assistant secretary of state responsible for Asia-Pacific affairs, told a Senate hearing that scam operations in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos have reached an unprecedented level of industrialization. He said most of the criminal organizations are led by Chinese citizens. DeSombre also said China has recently asked the countries involved to extradite scam-group leaders to China, but their whereabouts after returning remain opaque.
