ScienceNASA data shows extreme wildfires more than doubled in two decades

Scientists say wildfires are spreading across the world while growing larger, more intense and longer-lasting. NASA’s analysis of satellite data indicates that extreme wildfire activity has increased by more than twofold over the past 20 years. Although fire is a natural process that can help some forests, grasslands and wildlife regenerate, scientists warn that climate change is making many fires more disruptive and more difficult to contain. Al Jazeera’s Laura Khan explains the findings.
