SocietyMigrant workers left unpaid: Why do they stay silent?

More than 400 migrant workers sought help from Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower at the end of June after allegedly being denied wages. The reasons many workers hesitate to lodge complaints remain a central concern. National Trades Union Congress secretary-general Ng Chee Meng said in a Facebook video on Aug. 3 that most affected workers had found new jobs, while some chose to return home. Interviews with workers, employers and aid groups examine the roots of the problem and gaps in the system.
