SportsFIFA apologises over World Cup private investment controversy

FIFA President Gianni Infantino convened a crisis meeting in Morocco on Wednesday after controversy erupted over plans to open the World Cup to private investors. In a joint letter with Secretary General Mattias Grafström, he admitted that “mistakes” had been made and that consultation had been lacking. FIFA officials nevertheless repeated their “full support” for the organisation’s president despite the dispute.
