PoliticsWhy 25 states sued the Trump administration over ‘forced labour’ tariffs

Twenty-five Democrat-led US states have taken legal action against Donald Trump’s administration to stop its newest set of trade tariffs. The White House says the measures apply to 59 countries and the European Union because they have not done enough to curb imports made with forced labour. Britain, China, India, Canada and Mexico are among those affected. The states argue in their lawsuit that Trump’s tariffs are “arbitrary, capricious” and unlawful.
