> Singapore has passed laws raising the maximum fine for companies held responsible for transboundary haze from S$2 million to S$20 million. The measures also allow restrictions on suspected offenders’ business dealings and action before haze reaches Singapore. Breaching restrictions can bring fines of up to S$1 million per offence, plus S$100,000 for each continuing day. Twenty-four MPs supported the Bill and raised various issues.
