> About 170,000 people joined this year’s Taipei Pride parade on 31 October. The event, one of East Asia’s largest LGBTQ equality gatherings, took on added political significance after police searched a gay bar in the city; participants celebrated gains in equality and raised concerns about prejudice, policing disputes and gender issues, while many said discussion of equality and inclusion should continue.
