SocietyShops looted as German cost-of-living protests turn violent

Rioters looted shops in central Frankfurt late on Saturday as clashes over living costs broke out in several German cities. Violence was also reported in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg. Police said they used water cannon to disperse protesters who targeted emergency workers with fireworks, stones and bottles. Earlier, thousands joined largely peaceful demonstrations organised by Gen Z regelt over school underfunding and high living costs.
