SportsRussia returns to the hockey world championships

Russia had been barred from international ice hockey competitions since 2022, following its invasion of Ukraine. The Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned International Ice Hockey Federation decisions excluding Russia from 2026-27 events, including the men's and women's world championships. How Russia will be included is unclear, as another team would create uneven groups and lengthen tournaments.
