# Crypto heist: Hackers steal US$6.3 billion from Binance in record theft

Binance says investigators found additional breach points after initially tracing the reported US$6.3 billion hack to an employee’s compromised laptop. Calling it a “complex attack,” the firm is working with authorities to trace and freeze the stolen assets. About US$3 billion has been frozen so far, including dollar-linked digital currencies. Binance says it will cover all losses with emergency reserves and company resources.
