TechCanada to invest $1.6 billion in Toronto-based AI company Cohere

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a $1.6 billion federal investment in Cohere, a Canadian AI company founded in Toronto. Cohere describes itself as the largest AI company outside the U.S. and China. Strengthening Canada’s digital sovereignty is also a government focus.
