EconomyHow Chinese electric motorbikes are entering South Asian markets

War involving the US, Israel and Iran has pushed up fuel prices in South Asia, prompting more road users to switch to Chinese electric vehicles to manage transport costs. Uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz has raised concerns about fuel supplies. Chinese exports of electric motorbikes and related products to South Asia have increased markedly in recent months. Customs data show that August exports of complete vehicles to India nearly doubled year on year, while shipments to Pakistan and Bangladesh rose 291% and 553%, respectively.
