EconomyStelco owner says it is complying with legal obligations and seeks meeting with industry minister

Cleveland-Cliffs, the Ohio-based parent of Hamilton’s Stelco, said Tuesday it has fully met the commitments made under the Investment Canada Act when it bought the steelmaker in 2024. Industry Minister Mélanie Joly said Stelco has not honoured its undertakings and that the federal government has “a very strong case.”
