> Brazil’s left-wing President Lula won a fourth term, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro in a knife-edge vote. Lula, 80, had framed the election as a matter of “sovereignty,” contrasting someone who kissed Brazil’s flag with someone who kissed the US flag. Some polling stations extended voting by two hours after both campaigns pressed for the change.
