WorldParis protest begins at Porte d’Italie after last-minute route change

France is preparing for another day of cost-of-living protests, with extra police deployed nationwide to prevent a repeat of violence after last Saturday’s demonstrations. In Lyon, where protests are banned, police used tear gas to disperse about 150 people. The government said more than half a million attended last weekend, and similarly large crowds may gather again today.
