> Indonesia says it has released more than US$13 million in presidential aid to strengthen efforts to contain fires that have burned in Kalimantan for months. The blazes, the country’s worst in 11 years, have blanketed the region in toxic smoke and haze reaching neighbouring countries. The forestry ministry says the funds will be distributed in two phases, with about US$11 million going first to the provincial government and local authorities.
