PoliticsKey battlegrounds in U.S. midterms as parties vie for control of Congress

The U.S. midterms on Nov. 3 will put control of both chambers of Congress at stake. Although hundreds of seats are up for election, the outcome may hinge on a handful of closely contested districts. Senate races drawing attention include Alaska, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina and Texas. In Maine, Republican Susan Collins is seeking reelection; in Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers for the open seat left by retiring Democratic senator Gary Peters.
