WorldFrance protests: Deputy mayor tear-gassed as students demand better funding

Protests in France reflect growing anger over police tactics and worsening university conditions. Landry Ngang, deputy mayor of Saint-Denis near Paris, says police tear-gassed him as he tried to calm a street situation, and accuses the government of using force instead of political solutions. Students at Paris 8 University are protesting deteriorating facilities, too few teachers and inadequate public funding.
