SocietyActivists in Indonesia unfurl banners criticizing government’s disaster response

Environmental activists climbed the Welcome Statue at Jakarta’s Hotel Indonesia roundabout and unfurled banners calling for stronger climate action. They criticized the government over the rising cost of living and its disaster response as President Prabowo Subianto marked two years in office. Wildfires continued burning in Kalimantan, spreading haze across Southeast Asia, while more than 9,000 security personnel were deployed.
