Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said targeted curfews helped make for a quiet night after weekend riots and looting across France. Restrictions covered parts of central Paris, including Place de la République and Les Halles. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had earlier acknowledged that police had “lost control” in some cities. The protests began last month with students demanding better school conditions.
