> France has imposed nighttime curfews after violent protests, aiming to prevent large gatherings and restore calm. Young people and activists at Paris’s Place de la République object to the restrictions and police actions; some say the curfews curb their right to gather and speak out, while one activist compares police tactics to those used against Palestinians. The curfew runs from 11pm to 6am.
