French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said Monday he had asked regional authorities to impose curfews in some cities to protect businesses after weekend demonstrations turned violent in the streets. He described the measures as partial and localized, and accused the “ultra-left movement” of seeking to orchestrate deep unrest nationwide ahead of next year’s presidential election.
