WorldFrance protests: Fresh clashes in Paris as cities reel from widespread destruction

Clashes between young people and French riot police broke out again at Place de la République in Paris, a day after a cost-of-living protest turned violent. Students spoke of fear and injuries during the unrest, and demonstrators said a burnt-out car had become a memorial as they accused the government of ignoring their grievances. Similar scenes occurred in Marseille, while fire damaged the roof of Limoges’s 19th-century city hall, prompting its mayor to call for stronger government action.
