> The French government says more than 1,000 people were arrested in anti-government clashes on Saturday, as an estimated half a million or more took to the streets. Protests spread from Paris to Marseille and other cities, turning violent with looting and arson. In Limoges, a fire gutted the 19th-century City Hall and brought down its roof.
