Scientists have traced Nepal’s deadly August flooding to a massive high-altitude glacier collapse. As the ice rushed down the mountainside, its speed and friction melted it. Meteorologist Kristi Gordon says predicting another disaster will remain challenging, while climate change is raising the risk of similar events in mountainous areas.
