> Israel’s former Shin Bet chief sued Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for defamation on Wednesday in a dispute over responsibility for Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack, weeks before the election. Polls show Netanyahu in a tight race to remain in power on October 27, while the opposition has hammered him for failing to prevent the deadliest day in Israeli history.
