> China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced on Oct. 13 that 74-year-old Huang Qifan is suspected of serious disciplinary and legal violations and is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation. A former Chongqing mayor and close partner of Bo Xilai, Huang escaped fallout when Bo and Sun Zhengcai fell from power. Retired for nine years, he continued commenting on economic policy as a scholar; his investigation has drawn attention ahead of the Communist Party’s fifth plenum.
