> Iran summoned British Ambassador Hugo Shorter to protest the UK’s claim that Iran was likely involved in a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford. Tehran rejected the allegation, demanded evidence and warned it would seriously reconsider ties with London if Britain could not provide support for its claims. UK police detained five people near the base on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offenses, then released them on bail; gasoline but no explosives was found in their vans.
