> The IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook puts average oil prices at $95.74 per barrel in 2026, up from $67.74 in 2025, before easing to $87.39 in 2027. The forecast assumes Strait of Hormuz shipping recovers to pre-war levels from March to October 2027. If the US-Iran war remains unresolved by June 2027, shipping through the Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb straits could be paralyzed, pushing oil to $130 per barrel from the fourth quarter of this year to the first quarter of 2027. The IMF also expects gas prices to rise 48% and fertilizer prices 10% this year.
