> Indian police detained more than 2,000 protesters and a youth movement founder in New Delhi on Saturday. Authorities deployed security forces, suspended mobile internet in part of the city and closed metro stations and markets to prevent a rally demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Critics say voter-list revisions could benefit the ruling BJP; a UN human rights spokesperson called for meaningful dialogue.
