# EU expands Russian blacklist to 4,700 entries

> The EU Council said the bloc expanded its special designation list against Russia from 3,100 to 4,700 entries after approving its 22nd sanctions package. The package targets 826 companies and organizations and 743 individuals, mainly businesspeople and officials linked to Russia’s defense sector. Those listed are barred from entering the EU, have their EU assets frozen, and may not conduct business with EU companies or individuals.
