> María del Carmen Abascal, 87, became a public symbol of Spain’s housing crisis after an investment firm sought to raise her rent by 230% and she was evicted. Thousands are expected to march in Madrid in her memory. Her death has made housing a major issue ahead of the forthcoming election.
