> India’s weak monsoon has hit farmers and put water supplies and the power system under strain. Rainfall from June to September was 12.6% below the long-term average, making it the driest monsoon in 11 years. Low reservoir levels have reduced hydropower output and contributed to electricity shortages, while raising concerns about the economic costs of increasingly erratic rainfall.
