> Germany has chosen Emden on the North Sea coast for a second naval port, citing an escalating security threat and the need to accommodate a growing navy. The base is planned to open by the early 2030s and could have up to 2,000 military posts. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said it would strengthen deterrence and expand operational options.
