> Taiwanese author Yang Shuang-zi’s Munich event promoting the German edition of her novel drew controversy after interpretation omitted or condensed remarks on Taiwan, China and political history. Taiwan’s representative office said China’s consulate had asked for the event to be canceled and proposed a replacement; the venue director and consulate denied this. The interpreter acknowledged shortcomings but denied politically motivated omissions.
