> Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and other German politicians urged people to reject antisemitism on the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. Merz said Germany would do more to combat antisemitism while supporting Israel’s security and a two-state solution. Demonstrations across Germany remembered victims of both the Hamas attacks and Israel’s ensuing war.
