> Tent settlements are expanding across Gaza as families mourn the dead, tend to the wounded and face repeated displacement. Since Israel began what the article calls its genocidal war against Palestinians in October 2023, more than one in 10 of Gaza’s pre-war population has been killed or wounded by Israeli fire. Nearly all residents are homeless; despite a 2025 “ceasefire,” Israeli strikes continue, while restrictions on building materials hamper rebuilding and a reconstruction plan remains stalled amid disagreements with Hamas.
