> Students, teachers and parents across France are protesting deteriorating school buildings, staff shortages and overcrowded classrooms. Protesters say the government’s five-point education plan is inadequate, while a forceful police response has led to more than 6,000 arrests and injuries to hundreds of teenagers and officers; police conduct is under investigation.
