> Around 250,000 people demonstrated across France on Tuesday as unions and teachers joined high school students in demanding better learning conditions. Sporadic clashes with security forces followed. A French police officer was charged with violence over firing a tear-gas grenade at close range at a 14-year-old student during protests last week. Protesters said the movement would continue and demanded concrete government action.
