> Flávio Bolsonaro won Brazil’s presidential election first round by a surprisingly clear margin over left-wing incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, but fell short of an outright majority, forcing a runoff later this month. The result has been hailed as a “blue wave” and may signal a wider resurgence of right-wing support in Latin America. Lula now needs an unprecedented result to retain the presidency.
