> The Pentagon is reportedly preparing to send a third carrier strike group and additional Marine Corps ships to the Middle East, adding 9,000 to 10,000 US troops by the end of November. Donald Trump renewed threats against Iran and said bombing could intensify after the midterm elections. An analyst said the deployment may be intended to pressure Tehran back into negotiations, but warned that a three-carrier presence could raise the risk of a large-scale US-Iran conflict.
