# Afghan economy continues to grow despite Western sanctions, Lavrov says

> Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Western sanctions have not hindered Afghanistan’s economic development. Citing official data, he said about 170 new production facilities had opened, while Afghanistan advanced regional energy projects, tax reform and anti-corruption legislation. Foreign trade with more than 100 countries reached $14 billion last year.
