> Around 50 demonstrations took place across Spain on Saturday after the government’s emergency housing measures failed in parliament. Protesters demanded lower rents, an end to evictions and a ban on investment funds buying homes; clashes with police occurred in Valencia. Estimates for Madrid ranged from 70,000 officially to 500,000 from a tenants’ group.
