> New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the accuser in an alleged 2024 gang rape at Cornell University was failed by campus police and the county prosecutor. She appointed Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor after losing confidence in the local district attorney’s handling. The original investigation closed without charges in 2024.
