> African leaders attended the groundbreaking of a $16 billion refinery near Lamu on Kenya’s coast. The facility is expected to be completed in 40 months and process about 700,000 barrels of oil daily under Aliko Dangote’s oversight. Environmental campaigners and residents oppose the project over ecological and ancestral land concerns.
