# Hong Kong rises to 14th in global innovation ranking, WIPO says

> Hong Kong placed 14th among 139 economies in WIPO’s 2026 Global Innovation Index, ranking fifth in Asia. It was eighth worldwide for innovation inputs and 21st for outputs. Officials said the city will continue developing as an international innovation and technology hub, including through AI, computing infrastructure and Greater Bay Area integration.
