# North Korea to boost tactical counterattack capabilities near South Korean border

> North Korea says it will strengthen tactical counterattack capabilities in a sector of the demilitarized zone along the South Korean border. Kim Yo-jong warned that any fire opened on North Korean personnel building long-term barriers would bring an “immediate and merciless retaliatory strike.” She also denied North Korean involvement in a Sept. 21 mine blast that injured three South Korean troops.
