> US President Donald Trump backed a proposal to relax some sanctions on Russia in exchange for Moscow releasing several prisoners, The Atlantic reported. The initiative, presented by special envoy John Coale, remains at an early stage and could enable deals involving Russian oil, diesel, rare earth minerals and other commodities. The approach could anger Ukrainians, Europeans and some of Trump’s congressional allies.
