> Burkina Faso has opened its first gold refinery as Ibrahim Traoré’s military-led government seeks to process more mineral wealth domestically and strengthen state control over the industry. The facility can initially refine 164 tonnes a year and cost more than 11bn CFA francs, according to the presidency.
