> Free-speech and media advocacy groups are asking a judge to reject California’s settlement with Paramount Skydance, which would clear the way for its $111 billion Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Twelve states had sued to stop the deal, and the judge previously found it likely to substantially reduce competition and violate antitrust law. After the states joined the settlement, the groups argued it offers their residents “virtually nothing.”
